Visit Rebekah's Page to get updates, read messages and send messages to Rebekah and her family through comments. This is a public "diary" of a family whose little girl started a battle with inoperable cancer in April 2005. In December 2007 our house burned down. And in September 2009 Mommy was diagnosed with a terminal disease (a genetic form of ALS) that took her to Heaven in July, 2011, leaving Daddy and two young girls to make it on their own. Over several years of ups and downs, you will get into our hearts, minds and souls as we share joys and sorrows. It can sometimes be very difficult to read. We hope it is also uplifting. Please find joy in what you read here.

A Prophetess Among Us

We want to make a mid afternoon update here to draw your attention to a line out of one of the comments we have recently received:

"Olivia says, "Mommy, I am so glad that Jesus took away Rebekah's booboo - now she won't have to have any more 'pop drops'." 'pop drops' is her term for medicine ---perhaps she speaks prophetically!"

This brought both Frances and I to tears. If you have been reading the blog and comments from the beginning you will know that several times Olivia (a little girl who lives 3,000 miles away and has never met Rebekah)has had knowledge of a very specific need of Rebekah's and prayed out loud specifically for them before she (or her mommy) had read or even before we knew of the need. God has blessed this little girl with keen insight and that makes the above even more powerful to read.

Rebekah is doing okay today although she has not wanted to eat much. There was a short time where she was eating some of her sister's baby food off the stroller tray but that has been about it.

Tomorrow morning we are meeting with SO many doctors to talk about the future and we are confused, nervous, upset, apprehesive etc. etc. etc. about it. Please keep us in mind.

Dear Scott and Frances,

Because of my tendency to wordiness, I usually just send an e-mail, but decided to comment on the blog today.....so it will be loooong.

We shed and share in your tears of JOY over Rebekah's Tumor "GONE" MIRACLE from GOD!

At the same time, we feel your confusion and frustration at this point and are praying diligently for God to be in total control of Friday's meetings...guiding and directing all to the proper avenues to follow.....all the while praying specifically for NO RADIATION! Olivia, we pray that you are so, so right and no more "pop drops" for Rebekah.

This Helen Steiner Rice poem was written by a friend in a card to us for our 49th Anniversary tomorrow and it seemed too appropriate to not share it with you.

"Beyond Our Asking"

More than hearts can imagine or minds comprehend,
God's bountiful gifts are ours without end.
We ask for a cupful when the vast sea is ours.
We pick a small rosebud from a garden of flowers.
Whatever we ask for falls short of God's giving.
For His greatness exceeds every facet of living.

Much love, hugs and prayers....

I just heard of your battle through an email from Keith at Our Place. I will be in prayer for your daughter, as well as the rest of the family.

While I can't comprehend the difficulties you all have gone through over the months, I am rejoicing with the recent good news. I admire your faithfulness, and know that, even in unfathomable trial, you are being a witness and an example of faith of the hardest kind. I will praise God even now for what he will do through this trial, and thank him for beautiful Rebekah, and for her spirit and strength.

Thanks for being an example of love for me and my own children, and I continue to pray for good news on Rebekah's behalf.

Let me know if there are any specific needs I can help meet.

I came across your blog a few weeks ago through someone else's blog. I just wanted to let you know that your precious one has worked her way into my heart and that I am praying for you all and the decisions you will be making in the coming days. May God grant you incredible wisdom and peace. Thank you for sharing your story with us.
