Visit Rebekah's Page to get updates, read messages and send messages to Rebekah and her family through comments. This is a public "diary" of a family whose little girl started a battle with inoperable cancer in April 2005. In December 2007 our house burned down. And in September 2009 Mommy was diagnosed with a terminal disease (a genetic form of ALS) that took her to Heaven in July, 2011, leaving Daddy and two young girls to make it on their own. Over several years of ups and downs, you will get into our hearts, minds and souls as we share joys and sorrows. It can sometimes be very difficult to read. We hope it is also uplifting. Please find joy in what you read here.

An ongoing update

I don't know how much to post and how much not to post when things are not drastically changing?

As you probably know we came how from the hospital Monday after a fear of a fever kept us in the hospital for 3 days. Tuesday (yesterday) Rebekah had pretty bad diarrhea which turned into a bad, bleeding, diaper rash. Frances called all over town and found one tub of a certain diaper rash ointment the doctors were recommending ($5.00 for a very small tub!) It seems to be helping and her diarrhea has gone away. That is one of the things we need to be very careful of and we almost thought it would end us up back in the hospital.

Today, Wednesday, things have been going quite well. Rebekah has been generally content and is loving playing with her sister. I walked in on them earlier and Rebekah had pulled Sarah (literally dragged Sarah) onto her lap and was trying to read a book to her. It was SO cute but unfortunately the camera was out in the van. This evening Rebekah spent a good 5 minutes on the phone with Grandma Mickley. All Rebekah would say was "yah" and "chi chi" and "eat" but they seemed to be having a good conversation anyway. Rebekah was really sad to let the phone go.

As long as nothing else changes we are still planning a trip to the hospital next Monday for 6-7 days or so. It will be long, but what can you do.

A few days without comments and we are wondering if anyone is really out there? Let us know what you would like to hear, see, etc. and keep checking out helprebekah.com as Steve just about has it finished off now.

Your prayers are needed every day, please keep them coming.

Hi Scott,
I read your posts every day or so and whenever mom and I talk (once or twice a week) we catch each other up on Rebekah's progress. You are all in our prayers. Many people are praying. This is such a great way to keep people up to date on Rebekah and the family and probably a release for whoever writes, as well. Stay strong in the Lord, and may He give you all your needed rest.
God bless,
Jo

Every day I read your updates and keep your family in my prayers.

Ask Steve Sporre about veggie tales.

I don't know you guys personally but I sure feel like I do reading your posts and hearing about you in church (I attend Laurel). You have a remarkable family and your love in Christ is a tribute to all of us who take everything for granted.

We will keep all of you in our Prayers.

Hello Rebekah,

Aunt TT writing here for Michael and Jacob. At lunch and at bedtime we fold our hands for "praying hands" and we thank Jesus for all of our family and friends and we pray that "Bekah's" tumor goes "Bye Bye!" We praise God for what He has done and ask Him to give you all good sleep!

The boys play with Mommy's bracelettes and now know they are Bekah's and will say, "Bekah's!"

We love you very much!

Aunt TT, Uncle Mark, Jacob and Michael

I check Rebekah's page every morning and worry when there is no update. I know posting updates isn't, and shouldn't, be your highest priority but please post updates as often as possible. An "all's well today" or "nothing new to report" would fill the bill for me. Your posts keep your growing community of Rebekah supporters connected to her progress.

Hi Rebekah, Daddy, Mommy and Sarah,
We don't miss a day reading your Daddy's updates on your progress and the whole family. We will soon be taking advantage of the Rebekah Trust that has been set up for you. But even before we do that, please have your Daddy or someone let me know how best I can buy a dozen of the "Reach the Day" support bracelets. Aunt Nancy isn't too swift in following on-line directions.
Our thoughts and many, many prayers will be going up for you and the whole Oregon family as you hopefully will embark on another round of chemo beginning next Monday. May God direct those treatments to shrink that tumor, or better yet remove it completely! His miracles still happen every day and you have already had a taste of that in your dear little life.
Much love to all,
Aunt Nancy & Uncle Paul
Akron, Ohio

You are the first thing I check every morning. I am a little spooked that my name just appeared on another comment next to the words "veggie tales"!!! What will people think of me!! That post is from my friend Caron who has a huge heart and gave me 2 Veggie Tales DVD's for Rebekah (they are still sealed so you know I havent secretly been watching them... in reality I already OWN these two...) I will get them over to you this week either by hand or through Auntie TT. God is good.

You'd better believe I am out there, checking for updates every day. And of course remembering you all in my prayers. Love, Suzanne
