This is a public "diary" of a family whose little girl started a battle with inoperable cancer in April 2005. In December 2007 our house burned down. And in September 2009 Mommy was diagnosed with a terminal disease (a genetic form of ALS) that took her to Heaven in July, 2011, leaving Daddy and two young girls to make it on their own. Over several years of ups and downs, you will get into our hearts, minds and souls as we share joys and sorrows. It can sometimes be very difficult to read. We hope it is also uplifting. Please find joy in what you read here.

An afternoon update...

Rebekah is out of surgery with the central line installed. They took marrow from two places on the back of her pelvis/hips. She is sitting up and eating crackers and drinking milk. She is a bit lethargic, but over all she is doing great.

Everytime someone comes in wearing a hospital coat or scrubs she starts saying and signing "all done".

24 hours of vital stats collection and we should be done on our way home.

Dear Rebekah and everybody,
This is a note from Laura, the SLP that works in Rebekah's class. Just a personal note to let you all know that everyone at school is thinking about your family and holding Rebekah in our thoughts and prayers. We get so attached to these little guys and to have one of "our kids" get sick like this is worrisome and scary for us, too. Thanks for keeping this log, we're checking it every day.

Dearest Rebekah,

Michael and Jacob hope that you liked the Care Bear that they got for you! They hope that you will snuggle it and be comforted!

As the Psalmist wrote, "God is our refuge and strength." He is always ready to help in times of trouble. There is no reason to be afraid. Trust Him to carry you through. He is with you always, both in times of calm and trouble.

We love you, Michael and Jacob and their Mommy and Daddy

Our prayer for Rebekah, Mommy & Daddy and Sarah,
This is Friday AM & realizing you all spent the first of what could be many nights together in the hospital, our prayer dear ones is that you slept as well as possible and awoke refreshed to meet today and each new day with the courage and strength you will need to face what lies ahead of you. May the God of all peace and comfort keep you wrapped in His healing arms as together with your doctors & nurses, the wonders of modern medicine, the constant love, care and prayers of family & fiends, we pray that a healing miracle comes
for all of you.

With much love and many hugs,

Aunt Nancy and Uncle Paul
