This is a public "diary" of a family whose little girl started a battle with inoperable cancer in April 2005. In December 2007 our house burned down. And in September 2009 Mommy was diagnosed with a terminal disease (a genetic form of ALS) that took her to Heaven in July, 2011, leaving Daddy and two young girls to make it on their own. Over several years of ups and downs, you will get into our hearts, minds and souls as we share joys and sorrows. It can sometimes be very difficult to read. We hope it is also uplifting. Please find joy in what you read here.

Very Hard on Daddy

I think that fewer words are best right now; mainly because daddy is not sure how he feels about this "first" for his little girl:

Beautiful! Be proud of Rebekah for her confidence and independence. How marvelous to see her taking on a very normal challenge of growing up with that beautiful smile on her face!

My oldest, Sara, just took off for college three weeks ago. I had her stand in the very same spots where she stood 12 years previously for her fist day of first grade. When comparing the two sets of pictures, I broke down crying. Where did the last 12 years go?! At the same time, I am rejoicing and proud that she is well enough to be able to go to college. Rebekah looks so happy. I hope Daddy was smiling through his tears, too.
